What am I Doing Now?

I graduated from Western Washington University in March of 2021 with a degree in Communication Studies. I did not walk the stage, I did not have a graduation party, I just disappeared. So where did I go? I moved from Bellingham, Washington all the way to Austin, Texas.

I did not know a single person moving out to Austin, but I did have a job lined up. This job was working on the floor in retail, and I knew it was temporary, but now what? After leaving my retail job, I found myself in a Design and Sales position working in the construction industry. Long story short, I designed kitchens and sold cabinetry for those kitchens.

Working for a small business that was rapidly growing, I was able to dabble a little further than just design and sales. I found myself diving into marketing, branding, and content creation for the company. I had done this work before when I was 19 working for a non-profit. It is funny to me how I accidentally was pulled back into this world of marketing.

The difference this time around is I had a budget. In this position I learned all about SEO optimization, running ad campaigns, and brand identity and fluidity across platforms, all while still doing sales and design. I realized this is where my passion is. I am trying to dive into this world head first with a lens that has not quite been taken advantage of in the career force.

I am determined to change the world through my work, so I look forward to sharing some of that work and the steps I will be taking in order to do so.
